Mega Millions isn’t the only Ohio Lottery game

The Ohio Lottery is played by many thousands of people every day, and in addition to the big-money lotto tickets and Mega Millions games, plenty of scratch off games with much smaller payouts are bought as well.  Unfortunately, there are lots of people who will only play the Ohio Lottery when there is a huge jackpot in the millions of dollars to win.  And believe us when we say that if you’re only playing Mega Millions games, you aren’t having as much fun with the Ohio Lottery as you could be.  On top of that, you also are limiting yourself as to the amount of money you could win.

But wait a second, you say: how could I be limiting the amount I could win when I only buy Ohio Lottery tickets with big jackpots?  Quite simply, the answer is that when you play the scratch off lotto games that have lower payouts, you’re much, much more likely to win.  And while you might only win twenty bucks by playing an Ohio Lottery scratch off as opposed to Mega Millions, you will probably win a scratch off 100 times before you ever beat the astronomical odds of a multi-million dollar lotto.

So you can see why it’s worth reminding people that Mega Millions isn’t the only Onio Lottery game in town.  It’s always amusing to see people pass up the chance to buy a lotto ticket when the payout sits at just a “measley” couple of million dollars, but who rush to the store to buy as many tickets as possible once it hits a record level.  Heck, sometimes you’ll even see people drive in from other states that don’t have Mega Millions just to play the Ohio Lottery when the payout hits a new high!

How much sense does that make, anyway?  It isn’t as though your chances of winning the lottery goes up in relation to the amount of cash you could win.  In fact, your chances of winning actually goes down depending on how high the Mega Millions payout is, since more people will be buying lottery tickets.  The real reason why people rush to play the Ohio Lottery when the jackpot is high isn’t because they think they have better chances of winning, but rather because they get caught up in the fervor and it’s easier to dream about what they would spend so much money on.  And can you really blame them?

If you’re having fun only playing the Ohio Lottery when the potential winnings are huge, then more power to you and by all means continue.  But if you want to take a more intelligent and rational approach to winning, your first move should be to come to the realization that smaller, consistent payouts are more realistic than a single huge jackpot suddenly coming your way.

And that’s where the scratch off games come into play!  They may be initially more expensive (five or ten bucks, say, rather than a dollar for a lotto ticket), but you are much more likely to win your money back, or even make a modest profit.  Keep that in mind, and you’ll be much more likely to have more than just fun when you play the Ohio Lottery; you may end up having some extra cash in your pocket, too!
